Biography: I have been working in the Financial Services Industry for just over 6 years. My decision to move into Financial Planning came after I spent some time working in a local credit union as a Member Service Officer and Branch Manager. I helped members with their everyday banking needs, and it was while I was doing that, I realised how much there was to learn about your finances and how working in the Financial Planning industry could see me helping people with their finances every day.

I moved from the credit union, securing a job in a Financial Planning firm, completed my Diploma in Financial Planning and the rest of my journey is history…. so far! I love the work I do, and especially my role at Money Mechanics. I enjoy the relaxed yet professional culture we foster – making sure that we have a laugh every day! We make sure that work/life balance is achieved – which is important as my most favourite times are spent with my 3 year old daughter, Lucy.

What does your organisation do?Money Mechanics is a specialist financial life planning firm. We look at your overall life goals in the context of your financial plans and help couch, educate and empower you to be able to achieve these. We provide strategic advice in the areas of self managed superannuation funds, public sector superannuation, wealth creation, salary sacrifice, gearing strategies, estate planning, insurance and business succession planning.

The biggest thing that sets us apart from other financial planning firms is our unique fee for service model and our personalised approach – our clients can choose how they work with us and pay a fixed hourly rate. We choose not to take upfront or ongoing commission on financial products, so we are in business for you, our client, not the various ‘product providers’.

Why did you become involved in the 10thousandgirl campaign? I attended one of the very first 10thousand girl workshops in Canberra several years ago and walked away absolutely inspired and motivated to make changes in my life, both in my personal goals and plans and in my professional dealing with clients. So often in our line of work we see women caught in a position where they have limited knowledge of their personal finances etc which causes them unnessecary worry and concerns. In my involvement with the 10thousand girl campagin I hope to be able to help educate and inspire more women around their personal and financial goals, making financial matters less “scary” and something be excited about! (Oh, and also achieving “world peace”).
