Life Planning Workshop

In the lead up to the official 10thousandgirl Campaign launch and regional bus tour, we’re on the hunt for girls looking to create a plan for their future and take hold of their personal finances. The Campaign aims to inspire a ripple effect; when a girl knows where she’s heading and how to get there, she is able to help others and inspire those around her.

At the Life Planning Workshop, you’ll enjoy a life and finance makeover, as well as a beauty makeover. Over the day you will collate tools and resources and realise what’s possible personally and financially in achieving your life plan, walking away with a new sense of motivation and confidence.

Thanks to generous friend and sponsor ING DIRECT, one lucky workshop participant nationally will be in the running to win $10,000 towards her savings plan.

The first series of Life Planning Workshops are being held at the Napoleon Perdis Make-Up Academies in Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney between February and June 2010.

What's involved:

  • Interactive 7 1/2 hour workshop: explore ways to create and achieve your life goals in a lighthearted and supportive setting
  • Life Planning Workbook: record new thoughts and ideas and work on your personal 10 year life plan and action chart for 2010
  • Your Spending Plan: learn about and take the first steps towards how your long term saving and investing goals to help you achieve your life plan
  • Personal finance book: receive your own copy of the popular modern woman’s guide to financial freedom, Flirting with Finance
  • A makeover and gift bag courtesy of NP Set by Napoleon Perdis
  • Lunch and refreshments throughout the day
The first series of workshops is kindly sponsored by ING DIRECT, allowing us to deliver workshops affordably at only $120 including lunch. Register for your nearest capital city workshop here.

FAQ

Who is it for?

Our objective is to encourage young women to start planning and engaging in finance as early as possible so time is on your side. We understand as well the need to review, reflect and re-plan throughout our lives to boost confidence for the next phase. Girls who are just starting out, learning to set goals and making plans for the first time will benefit just as much as girls who already have an investment portfolio and who feel it’s time for a rethink. The Workshop has been created to provide the time, place, structure and resources for you to get what you need at your stage.

Am I still a "girl"?

We say if you feel like a girl, you’re welcome! If we were to specify an age, then 18-30s is better simply because we're here to encourage young women to start planning as early in their lives as possible. However, we have had all ages interested, and a few mothers and daughters coming together.

Who’s speaking?

The first series of workshops are presented by coach and facilitator, Zoe Lamont. We provide the structure and guidance through the workbook for women to sort through their personal plans and finances using group discussion as a catalyst for new ideas and sharing of perspectives.

How many participants are there?

The workshops are friendly and intimate with around 12-30 girls, depending on interest and size of the community.

Can I sit next to my friends?

Yes, you can. There are no set seats. You can book independently and sit together on the day.

Is there heavy selling?

No, there is no selling at these events. It is a social program and our only agenda is for women to walk away clear on their plans, feeling energized, motivated and refreshed.

What's next?

Keep watch as an eye-catching 10thousandgirl bus travels across the country delivering the programs to girls in more than 100 regional Australian communities.

What have others been saying?

‘It was close to being the most productive eight hours of my life, and that's saying something’
- Melissa Wallace, REAL Magazine

'Thanks for the workshop - it has really opened my eyes'
- Emma Legg

'You might be interested to know I spent the weekend filling out the rest of the booklet – I found it much easier after a bit of reflection! And setting out my budget was very helpful'
- Carmen McIntosh

'I went to the 10thousandgirl workshop in Melbourne and came out alive! The most amazing (and probably obvious to some) thing I learnt was to calculate your expenses first - and work out how much you need to earn after! It’s not about pinching pennies and saving the leftover soaps, it’s about real world real girl ways of living your life to the fullest and STILL reaching financial goals. I discovered goals I didn’t even know I had! I know this sounds like a paid plug but it’s not (check out my blog if you don’t believe me! http://inspirationunplugged.com/10thousand-girl-campaign-women-to-inspire/ ) and I’d totally recommend this workshop to any gal wanting to take control'
– Kaye Waterhouse

'10thousandgirl made me realise my short term goals may not be in line with my long term goals. Straight after the workshop I started writing out my plan'
- Claire Shannon

We hope you enjoy the 10thousandgirl Workshops. They lay the foundations for the Personal Finance Program.
