We invite you to become a Local Ambassador for the 10thousandgirl Campaign. This is an opportunity to use your skills, knowledge and sense of community and work with a like-minded group to contribute to the long term economic wellbeing of Australian communities and beyond. It is also a chance for you to become filled with inspiration and fulfilment and most likely grow yourself and if you have a business, that too.
What makes an ideal Local Ambassador?
In order to reach and support girls across Australia, we are looking for motivated and aligned individuals and businesses to assist in the organisation and set up of Life Planning Workshops and local awareness raising activity in each local area. As a Local Ambassador for the 10thousandgirl Campaign you will:
- Be a local business/financial services professional/local community person and/or interested local woman
- Be interested in local/global economic wellbeing with a basic understanding of microfinance
- Understand the importance and impact of planning for the future and increasing financial literacy, with a specific interest in supporting youth and women
- Be a connected member of your community
Host Life Planning Workshops, co-ordinate school talks and support the forming of GIGs (Girl Investment Groups) in your local area
Life Planning Workshops have been held in major cities between February and June 2010. From 2011, programs are being delivered into 100 metropolitan and regional centres across Australia. By becoming a Local Ambassador, you will partner with 10thousandgirl and your local community to run campaign programs in your area.
Why become a Local Ambassador?
As an individual:
You may resonate with what 10thousandgirl stands for; you might even be a girl who wants to see the workshop come to your local area. As a potential Local Ambassador, you are an individual who is a good communicator, is well organised, who takes initiative and who can rally local support for the program.
The reasons for wanting to be a Local Ambassador may differ, but the benefits are great. You might be inspired to be part of something bigger, or enjoy inspiring others. You may be looking for an outlet to give back to the community or some skills to add to your resume. You may like to gain experience in organising events, contacting media, and local businesses or you may just be wishing to connect with local networks and join a like-minded community.
